You can add custom parameters to Matics to support your site's jobs specific requirements. These custom parameters improve tagging, analysis, and reporting. For example, adding classifications to jobs and generating insights based on custom parameters.

Customizing parameters makes it easier to identify discrepancies in output and analyze the OEE of different production lines. This is particularly beneficial for managers who want to compare efficiency and output clearly, such as for similar products that have slightly different specifications for each country.

How to add a custom parameter to the system

  1. Go to Settings > Custom parameters.

  2. Click the + icon in the top menu to add a new row.

  3. Fill in the following:

    1. Active - When this check box is cleared, the custom parameter is unavailable for use.

    2. Display Name - Enter the name for the parameter that's displayed in the system, wherever it's used.

    3. Display Order - Enter a number that determines the position of the custom parameter relative to other custom parameters. The system uses a descending order.
Note: If no number is entered, the ordering is based on the index number.
When there's a combination of numbering and non-numbering, the display order starts with non-numbered items and continues to numbered items.

    4. Data Type - Select what type of data the custom parameter holds:

      1. 'Text' for free text values

      2. 'List' for a drop-down list of values that you'll set afterwards (step 6)

      3. 'Boolean' for determining if the custom parameter is true or false

      4. 'Numeric' for numbers

      5. 'Date' for selecting a date via a calendar widget

  4. Click Save Changes.
Both the index number and the language key are automatically generated.

  5. To translate the custom parameter to one or more languages:

    1. Click the Lang Key number to open the Language Dictionary page.

    2. Enter the translation of the custom parameter's display name in the cell of the language(s) you need to translate it to.

    3. Click Save Changes.

  6. For custom parameters of the 'List' type only:

    1. Click the index number to open the Params list page.

    2. In that page, click the + icon in the top menu to add a new value.

    3. Enter a value in the Value cell.
Tip: if you're using a non-English language for your site, enter the text for the custom parameter's values in your target language.

    4. In the Active cell, choose 'TRUE'.
(If 'FALSE' this value will not be available in the list.)

    5. Repeat steps b through d for each option that should be included in that custom parameter's list.

    6. Click Save Changes.

Note: To add custom parameters, you need to belong to a user group that has the 'Custom parameters' sub-menu permissions set to 'Read/Write/Delete'.
