Online Dashboard Overview

Production floor Online displays

Updated over a year ago

Introduction

Assuming you've read the Web app orientation article, you already know that the Online dashboard is a central portal in Matics for production floor management that shows you what's happening on the production floor at this moment.

It's a management tool that can be used both for command & control of the production floor and for continuous monitoring. The machines on the production floor are represented by either detailed tiles or minimal tiles, depending on what you want to see. The content of each tile type is customizable to make sure you have the information you need in front of you. Mainly the machines' current status and the job each machine is currently running.

The Online dashboard is offered in three views:

  • Department View (the machines of a selected department)

  • Factory View (all the site's machines grouped by departments)

  • All Machines (all the site's machines in a flat structure --no grouping)

The type of tiles available (detailed or minimal), depend on the view. When you are in the overall view of All Machines, which gives you a general picture of the site, the machines tiles will be smaller with minimal information to fit all machines in. For example:

When you are in Department View, which is the more focused view, you can choose between either the minimal tiles or the detailed tiles. Detailed tiles have more customization options and more action controls, since there's more space to work with. For example:

Looking at these tiles you can understand how production progress is going for the current job, which products are in production, and track those parameters of interest for efficient interventions. You can also drill down and examine in more detail the production entities by clicking their identifiers, for example clicking the machine / product names or the job link.

What do I see in each machine tile?

As mentioned above, the amount of detail depends on what type of tile you're looking at. For example, cube tiles don't include the dynamic widgets such as job progress, while detailed tiles do.

TIP

Both tile types are customizable, so you can add or remove parameters from tile cells as well as decide what to include in the tile's header.

  1. Machine status (in cube view the status color fills the header cell, and in detailed view there's the machine status icon).

  2. When applicable, you'll see the job definition, which indicates the job's type.

  3. How long the machine has been in the current status.

  4. Machine name

  5. What the machine is currently working on (product or customer and the job ID).

  6. Machine classification, in this case manual workstation. When setting up the system machines can be set with a type indicator to make it easy to see the machine’s main characteristic: is it a manual workstation? Is it part of a production line? Is it a peripheral system or a specific sensor? When applied, machine classifications are visible in online dashboards on all apps. You can also filter the online display per selected classifications.

  7. Proportional timeline representation of the machine's statuses throughout the shift.

  8. Dynamic infographics for select parameters.

  9. Parameters of interest. See customizing the machine tile below.

  10. Machine messages.

What can I do through each machine tile?

In general the machine tile provides all the basic command and control functionality for the machine. As mentioned above, the scope of functionality differs between the two tile types, so whatever's available in the cube tile is available in the detailed tile.

Since the detailed tile offers more than the cube tile, we'll use that tile type to point out the various options.

Detailed machine tile with numeric callouts for various action controls
  1. Click the actions menu to perform job actions.

  2. Click the edit control to customize the tile. For example, you may want to present different parameters than those currently there. Clicking this control transitions the tile to edit mode in which you change, add, or remove parameters from the tile. See more information below.

  3. Open the event calendar to view and add scheduled events.

  4. Click the hyperlinked identifier to open the product / customer page. Whether it's product or customer depends on what parameter was set for the tile's heading area.

  5. Click the hyperlinked job identifier to open the job's page.

  6. Click the report control to report the reason for the stop event.

  7. Open the service calls management tool to manage service calls.

  8. Report stop event reasons directly from the timeline by clicking the event's segment on the timeline.

  9. Compose and send machine messages.

TIP

Additional machine functionality is available when opening the machine's page.

Customizing machine tiles

Configure the tiles to present the information your site is interested in, or information that you are specifically interested in.

To do so click the edit control.

The tile enters edit mode with all the following customization options now available:

  1. Click any of these edit controls to select a different parameter from the list of machine parameters.

  2. Change the dynamic widget's display mode from bar to graph or vice versa.

  3. Click the minus symbol to remove the dynamic widget, or click the plus symbol to add it.

  4. Click the plus symbol to add another row for displaying more parameters, or click the minus symbol to remove the row.

  5. Apply the way you customized the tile, which is called the tile's 'structure', to either this tile only or to additional tiles, for your user only or for other users as well.

General dashboard settings

Control the dashboard's level of information by choosing the relevant view, filtering, tile type and tile structure.

Each of the controls and options available for the Online dashboard are described below.

Online Dashboard example with numeric callouts for the various general options
  1. The scope of this dashboard (from left to right):

    1. Name of department (or name of factory if it's the online dashboard of either the All Machines or Factory View).

    2. Number of machines, and number of departments for the higher-level views.

    3. PE value for the elapsed time of the shift.

    4. Time that has passed since shift start.

  2. Icon indicating logged in shift manager

(Available if enabled for the department) Presents the name of the user who's currently set as the department's shift manager. If none is set, or you need to change the current assignment, click this control and enter in the Shift manager log-in dialog the user's worker ID.

  3. From the department calendar you can create events that apply to all the department's machines.

  4. info icon for machine status legend

Displays the legend of the machine statuses.

  5. The information presented on the dashboard reflects the state of the production floor for the time indicated in the Last Update box. The system auto-refreshes the data every 5 minutes, but you can click the refresh icon to manually refresh the data immediately.

  6. Opens the Task dialog for adding tasks.

  7. Arrange the dashboard's display (from left to right):

    1. The name of the structure used for the machine tiles. You can choose either 'My Structure', which is your personalized structure, or the 'Default Structure' that was designed for your user group per the level you are viewing: All Machines, Department view, and the specific machine's page. Read more here.

    2. Set how many machines will be displayed in one row.

    3. Sort By:

      • 'Default' - machines are sorted per the order configured when setting up the system.

      • 'Time left (Hr)' - sorts machines by the time left for the active job.

      • 'Status' - sorts machines by machine status.

    4. Filter the dashboard to show only machines that match your filtering criteria.
(Click Reset to clear your filtering.)

    5. Cube tiles indicator

Indicates that the tiles are in 'Cubes view'. Tiles in this view can have their visual appearance customized, but this type of tile will not include graphs and charts.
Clicking this icon changes the view to 'Detailed view'.

    6. Detailed tiles indicator

Indicates that the tiles are in 'Detailed view'. Tiles in this view are preconfigured when setting up the system to a certain structure and can include small visual aids such as graphs and charts.
Clicking this icon changes the view to 'Cubes view'.

    7. TV mode icon

TV mode maximizes the display by using full screen. Often used for projecting to a display installed on the production floor.

  8. The machine status bar presents proportionally the current count of machines in each status.
Clicking the status icons (or any other part of that status segment in the bar), filters the display to present only machines in that status.
To clear filtering, click the filter icon and from the filter menu choose Reset.
