Dashboard custom templates

You can add custom templates that are based on an optimal mix of dashboard components that match your needs. These templates can be created for a specific department and for all departments. You can also share custom templates between users.

Creating a new template

  1. Go to Production Floor > Department view and select the department from the drop-down list.

  2. Click the Shift tab.

  3. Click Create New Template.
    You will get this prompt:
"You are about to clear the dashboard, are you sure you want to continue?"
This prompt is presented to confirm that you indeed want to create a new template, and haven't clicked it by mistake instead of the 'Save This Template As' control, since creating a new template clears the workspace from any other template you were working on.

  4. Click Select Your Components.

  5. Select and arrange the components you want to include in this template and close the widget.

  6. Click Save This Template As.

  7. In the New Dashboard Template dialog:

    1. Choose whether this template will be available for all departments in the factory, or for this department only.
When creating a template for the use of all departments, filtering settings do not apply. But, you can apply local filters to components in any specific department’s template.

    2. Enter a name for the template that reflects its purpose.

    3. Click Save.

The custom template you created is purple, to differentiate it from the templates the system provides (blue).

Modifying the template

When modifying a template, you can choose to save the changes in that template (thus overwriting the existing version of the template), or you can use the template as the basis for a new template by using the Save This Template As option at the end.

  1. Click the custom template you want to make changes to.

  2. Click Select Your Components.

  3. In the select components widget select additional components and clear the selection (toggle on and off) of those components you no longer want to include in the template (see note below).

  4. Arrange the selected components by dragging and dropping.

  5. Close the widget.

  6. To save your changes in this template, click the ellipses () in the bottom-right corner of the template and choose Save. A confirmation will be shown briefly.
To save this modified template as a new template with a different name, follow steps 6 & 7 in Creating a new template above.

Tip: If you’re just interested in removing components, you can do so directly on the Shift page by clicking the component’s close control ( X ).

Sharing the template

  1. Click the ellipses () in the bottom-right corner of the template.

  2. Choose Share.

  3. In the Copy To Selected Users dialog, click in the box to select recipients. You can select multiple recipients.

  4. Click SEND.

  5. The template is added to those users' Shift page custom templates.

A shared template is an independent entity after it was shared. This means that if the recipient of the shared template modifies the template and saves these changes
( > Save) the changes are only available for the recipient.
To share these changes with others, the recipient needs to choose the Share option.

If sharing the template with the originating sender, the original template will be overwritten with the modified template--and vice versa if the originating sender shares an updated template with recipients. The bottom line is that the last version of a shared template is the one that is used, since previous versions are overwritten.

Deleting custom templates

  1. Click the ellipses () in the bottom-right corner of the template.

  2. Choose Delete.

  3. Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the template.
